Our Commitment to Child Safety
At Reservoir East Primary School, we are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment where every child feels respected, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential. We take our responsibility to protect children from abuse seriously and foster a culture of vigilance and care. Together, we are creating a school where safety and wellbeing come first.
Restorative Practice at Our School
Restorative Practice is a positive approach we use to build a strong, respectful, and inclusive school community. It focuses on developing healthy relationships, encouraging open communication, and resolving conflicts in constructive ways. Rather than focusing on punishment, Restorative Practice helps students understand the impact of their actions, take responsibility, and make things right.
By using restorative circles, conversations, and problem-solving strategies, we aim to create a supportive environment where every student feels heard, valued, and connected. This approach promotes empathy, accountability, and long-term personal growth.
Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships at Reservoir East Primary School
At Reservoir East Primary School, we are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for all students. As part of this commitment, we actively implement the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (RRRR) program, an evidence-based initiative developed by leading education experts. This program equips students with essential social and emotional skills, including emotional literacy, positive coping strategies, problem-solving, and understanding of gender and identity. By integrating RRRR into our curriculum, we aim to empower students to build healthy relationships, develop resilience, and contribute positively to our diverse school community.
Supporting Student Wellbeing Through the Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHiPS) Program
At Reservoir East Primary School, we recognise that children’s mental health is essential to their learning, growth, and overall wellbeing. When children feel mentally well, they’re better able to cope with challenges, build strong relationships, and reach their full potential.
Unfortunately, not all children experience good mental health, and we understand the growing need for schools to play an active role in supporting students' emotional and social development. That’s why we are proud to be part of the Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHiPS) initiative.
This program—developed by paediatricians, educators, psychologists, researchers, and teachers—equips experienced teachers to take on the role of Mental Health and Wellbeing Leaders. With dedicated training and resources, our school is building its capacity to respond to mental health challenges early and effectively, ensuring that every child has the support they need to thrive.
LookOut Program for Children in Out-of-Home Care
The LookOut Program provides dedicated support for children living in out-of-home care, helping them feel safe, understood, and valued at school. Through tailored activities and trusted mentoring, the program focuses on building confidence, emotional resilience, and positive connections. LookOut aims to create a supportive environment where every child can thrive academically and personally, despite the challenges they may face.
