Music

At Reservoir East Primary School, our music program provides students from F-6 with the opportunity to explore different rhythmic and melodic musical instruments to help play along with music or create their own soundscapes and compositions for storytelling. Students develop a deep understanding for music and are encouraged to utilise musical terminology when discussing music.

Music lessons includes activities such as using the body as percussion, deep listening and critiquing, body movement games, instrumental play, using computers to compose music digitally and responding to picture books through music making.

Throughout the year, the students are also given the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate many different visiting musicians and musical groups who perform for the whole school and/or provide small group workshops. Through a rich music program that identifies the many different ways that students learn and interact with music, students are all given the opportunity to become better engaged in their learning and their own musical journey!
