Library

The Reservoir East Primary School library is located in the shared space between Rooms 4/5 and 6/7 and is staffed on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students currently have the opportunity to borrow books from the school library during class library sessions, which are rostered either weekly or fortnightly on Tuesdays and Thursdays, depending on the class.

The library is open to students on Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunchtime and second break and also on Tuesdays after school for borrowing (3.30-4.00pm).

All books borrowed are loans are for two weeks, and then should be renewed or returned.

The library collection currently has approximately 4500 titles comprising:

picture books

early fiction and chapter books for emergent readers

fiction

non-fiction

big books for shared class reading (picture books and non-fiction)

The library is currently developing specific areas of the collection, including:

books by and about First Nations people

graphic novels

e-books and other e-resources

‘own voices’ books by writers from diverse backgrounds.

New titles are added every month.

The library is a place for students to relax, discover new books and authors and develop a love of reading.

A student library committee supports the librarian by helping with cataloguing, book covering, borrowing and returns, shelving, writing reviews, suggesting new books and providing input into library processes and initiatives.

The library also aims to support students education by purchasing new books; putting together digital and print resources on different topics; promoting digital literacy; and compiling book collections to support teaching and learning for special days, weeks and other celebrations (eg. NAIDOC Week, CBCA Book Week.)

We look forward to welcoming your children into our wonderful library!
